The amount of downloads of dvd copying VLC media player 1.0 has reached up to 8.6 million, since it was released last week. So the latest release made really a huge hit, as the makers of the software VideoLAN note.

In fact, at present the sale of the RealDVD software in the US is blocked and the 6 main movie studies filed the suit last September, claiming that it “violated their right to restrict the use of their movies in digital form.” But a presentative from RealNetworks noted:
“We are disappointed that a preliminary injunction has been placed on the sale of RealDVD. We have just received the Judge’s detailed ruling and are reviewing it. After we have done so fully, we’ll determine our course of action and will have more to say at that time.”
